Proceeds from 22nd Annual charity golf tourney to benefit local organizations

Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas and South Central Missouri is accepting letters of request from area non-profit organizations that would like to be considered for the 2018 Arvest Bank Charity of the Year program. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 13.

The Charity of the Year program was created to lend financial support to local non-profit organizations through the annual Arvest Bank Charity Golf Tournament that is in its 22nd year.

Every year, a selection committee of Arvest Bank associates selects up to three local charities that share 100 percent of the proceeds from the golf tournament. Non-profit organizations in Baxter, Boone and Marion Counties in Arkansas, and Howell County, Missouri, are encouraged to apply for consideration as a charity of the year.

“The work our local non-profit organizations do to benefit our communities is extremely important, so any additional financial support we can give them directly benefits our friends, family and neighbors,” said Tiffany Watkins, Assistant Vice President and Marketing Director for Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas. “This tournament always garners a great deal of participation so we’re hoping to continue that success again this year.”

Final selection as a charity of the year is based on past, present and future financial needs, along with other criteria. To qualify, the charity must be designated as an IRS 501(c)(3) organization and must submit a letter to the committee explaining why their organization should be selected.

Watkins said the tournament has contributed more than $187,000 to local non-profit organizations since this tournament began.

Letters of application to be considered as a 2018 Charity of the Year should be mailed to: Arvest Bank Charity Committee, Attn: Tiffany Watkins, P.O. Box 325, Yellville, AR, 72687, or they may be emailed to

The Arvest Bank Charity Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, Aug. 25 at Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are available at all levels. Call 870-449-7164 for more information.
