Gary Townzen was shocked children would have to go without a coat in the middle of winter, so he set out to address the need. He started with donations from his barber shop customers, friends and civic groups. Now, 20 years later, he’s gathered and distributed more than 14,000 coats! See the excitement kids experience when they receive a coat from Gary.

If you have a coat to donate, feel free to drop it off at Gary's barber shop, Townzen Barber Shop, located at 104 S. 1st St., Rogers, Ark.

Gary’s story is part of Arvest Bank’s People Helping People series featuring citizens giving back to their community.

What a great story about an outstanding citizen of Rogers! Gary has devoted his time and efforts for many years to this cause, as well as to fighting hunger through sales of a calendar featuring historic area photos. Gary is one of those rare individuals who solves problems by being part of the solution...a true leader.
